What is Tui-Na?

Tui-Na (pronounced “Tway-Nah”) is the traditional Chinese form of therapeutic massage. The 2000 year old method is quite broad in nature and encompasses several different types of massage techniques such as kneading, pressing, and rolling. Additionally, the practice includes strengthening and reducing techniques, trigger points, active & passive range of motion exercises, joint articulation, soft tissue manipulation, and stretching.

Tui-Na massage may be used in the treatment of everything from migraines and the common cold, to digestive disorders and insomnia, but it is especially effective in the treatment of musculo-skeletal pain. Neck, Shoulder, & low-back pain, as well as sciatica, foot & heel pain, carpel tunnel, and “tennis elbow” are all good examples of the types of problems that can be treated with Tui-Na.
